12 Tips To Optimize Your Membership Site For Search Engines
1. Use unique content wherever possible
PLR and free reprints can be modified to look original to the search engines. To be classed as unique, the copy must be at least 30% different to any other webpage on the internet.
In addition to free reprints and PLR, it pays to also create content for your membership site from scratch. Outsource this task to a ghostwriter to save time.
2. Add new content regularly
To maintain a high page rank with the search engines, and a quality membership site, webmasters need to regularly add new content to their websites. A blog is a great way to add content to your site on a regular basis. Encouraging your members to comment on your blog may give you ideas for follow up blog posts, and will also increase your search engine ranking.
3. Choose the perfect keywords
Select specific keyword phrases that are relevant to the webpage you are optimizing rather than general terms. Although general terms draw more searches, there is a lot of competition for them and it will be difficult to get your page a high ranking.
Specific keyword phrases will get typed in less often, but you will get more targeted traffic and a higher page ranking for these phrases.
Look at what your competition is doing. Check out at least the top ten results for your keyword phrases on various search engines. Look at the source html codes and meta-tags on your competitors web pages to get some ideas.
4. Don’t jam in the keywords but consider your keyword density
The optimal keyword density is unclear, but many recommend aiming for 3% and 7% to get the most traffic without being penalized by the search engines. Keep in mind that both search engines and your readers prefer quality content that flows over keyword stuffed articles.
5. Put them where they count - keyword prominence
Prominence refers to where you place your keyword phrases on your webpage. Search engines will put a higher value on keywords near the top of the page, so make sure your first paragraph is keyword optimized as well as all your Title and H1 tags.
6. Keep them together - keyword proximity
While you do not have to keep all the words in your keyword phrase together for search engine optimization, keeping them close together will add search engine value.
7. Don’t forget to vary your keywords - LSI
In addition to keywords, search engines look for phrases that they expect to see relating to that keyword on the webpage. The presence of these phrases increases your search engine ranking.
LSI is designed to make sure keywords are used in context and that irrelevant content that is stuffed with keywords is penalized.
8. Dynamic Linking
To achieve a high search engine ranking it is important to get other sites to link to your membership site. These will be one way links, or reciprocal links, where you link to another site in return for them linking to you.
9. Don’t make them stop to ask for directions.
Structure your site so it’s easy to navigate. If a person can easily find their way, then the search engine spiders will also have an easier time getting around your web pages.
Make sure your membership site has a site map and that all major pages of your site are easily accessible from your members’ home page.
10. Captivate with attention grabbing headlines.
Use informative headlines throughout your webpage content, including your keyword phrases where appropriate.
11. Tag, you’re it.
Include descriptive Alt tags on your graphics. These need to make sense and explain what the graphic is, but you’ll want to also include your keywords if possible.
12. Tag, you’re it again…
Use descriptive title tags on all of your web pages to show what the page is about. Limit these to 59 characters. Add descriptive description tags to all web pages, and limited to 150 characters.

Targeted Adsense Results Made Easy
Tuesday, January 15, 2008
Adsense is a great way to generate income for your website if you are willing to put up advertisements for other companies. Adsense is also a great way for a business to advertise at a low cost and generate more traffic to their site. Regardless of which side of the fence you sit on, it is important that Adsense results are targeted. I will discuss how this benefits both the advertiser and the business that is doing the advertising.
Let’s say you have a business and you are allowing advertisements for other businesses to be posted there through Adsense. The only way you make any money is if the advertisement is targeted towards something the consumers viewing your website are interested in. It only makes sense for the ads to be in the same ballpark as what you offer but not an ad that directly competes with what you are offering.
On the advertisers end, Adsense is a great way to get more traffic to their website. They also only pay for each click that links back to there website from the ones where the ads are posted. Behind the scenes, a lot of hard work and time are investing in advertising. What good does it do if no one looks at the ads? There would be no logic to advertising sports cars on a website that is for children or advertising chocolate on a website for diabetic supplies unless the candy is for diabetics, then we have something to work with!
Adsense from Google has a great system they work with. The more information a business gives them when they sign up either to advertise or to host advertisements, the better the target will be met. Google Adsense works hard to match advertisements with what the various websites are offering as well as the target age group. Their data is also based on what the consumers out there are looking for. They are very aware of consumer trends. The goal is to get advertisements of the websites that appear natural to the consumer. It is also out of respect. Who wants to go online for a pair of running shoes and see ads for adult products and websites?
Keywords are very important when it comes to Adsense. This helps the system match up advertisers and advertisement hosts by comparing the keywords. The more keywords you enter when you complete your application at Adwords, the more matches will be provided. Content on your website is important for getting advertisements to host on your website. In fact, the more content you have the more advertisements will come your way. This is because the robots of the Adsense program at Google will pick up on this additional content. You can also place more keywords if you have more content.
Section targeting is also a great way to get the results you are looking for. This method allows you to suggest particular portions of your text that is part of your website to Google. You can request that they generate advertisements for your website to host based on that material and content. Section targeting is very simple to implement as it only involves adding certain html comments to the html code of your website. You also have the ability to ask Google and the Adsense program to ignore particular portions of material and content on your website that you do not want to offer advertisements for.
Adsense can work very well for you as an inexpensive way to get more advertising for your business. This is done by paying other websites to host your advertisements. You will pay them a set amount each time a consumer clicks the ad from their website linking to yours. As an advertisement host, Adsense is a great opportunity to make money. The key for both parties to benefit the most is by targeting the results. This includes using keywords and coding to get particular ads and to prevent advertising for something you don’t want on your website.

Getting the Most Use Of Adsense...
Tuesday, January 15, 2008
Google Adsense will give you a great resource for advertising you business. It allows you to advertise your business on various websites. You only pay them if consumers click on the link to take them to your website. This is an opportunity for a new business or one with a very small marketing budget to get themselves some recognition. You don’t pay anything if consumers don’t click on your advertisement.
You don’t want your ads just sitting on websites though. The whole purpose behind developing the ads and placing them is to get more interest in your products or services to generate an increase in sells. Properly using Adwords is the way to get this accomplished. The more popular keyword you use, the more likely your ad will appear on the page. While your website and product or service may be unique it is important to use common keywords, also known as Adwords.
It can be tricky to determine the right Adwords to use for your business. Various free tools to help with this process can be found on the internet. The Adwords Keyword Tool is the most effective as it was designed specifically for this purpose. It will help you write advertisements that are rich in keywords that are common. Millions of people search the internet everyday for various reasons including business, leisure, and shopping. Make sure your ads are in the same terminology they will be using while surfing the internet.
Using an Adwords template is another great way to ensure you are using the right terminology to get your ads on the page and in view of the consumer. Some advertisers shy away from these templates because they fear their ads will look like everyone else’s. However, that is not true. The templates allow you to be as creative as you want to be in your ads, just giving you a tool to make them as effective as possible. Templates are very simple to use and are great for businesses who continually want to change and update their various ads.
The most common mistake made when it comes to AdWords is not understanding the mental image that each keyword represents to the consumers. If you are advertising globally, then it makes sense to use keywords in each geographical area that mean something to take population of individuals. Another common mistake with Adwords in Google Adsense advertisements is writing the ads from the company’s point of view. The focus needs to be on the consumer and how they will view the advertisement. It needs to be a teaser that gets them excited, grabs them, and makes them curious enough to take the link to your website in that very moment.
For best results, limit the number of keywords in a group. I know you are thinking I have been telling you to use more keywords, and that is true. However, try to get them to stand alone or in groups of two or three. If you get too many then a consumer has to type in almost an exact match to get a hit. This will cut down on the number of links back to your website with Google Adsense.
Google Adsense is a very useful and effective way of advertising for your business. It can reach large volumes of people around the world and it is very cost effective. You can get the most out of your marketing with Google Adsense by using Adwords properly in your advertisements. Taking the time to educate yourself about Adwords and how they can promote your business in Google Adsense will be a great investment in the future of your business. The various tools available to help make the process easier should be taken advantage of.
