5 ways to improve Adsense earnings

Tuesday, February 26, 2008
The ones who have been there and done it have quite some useful tips to help those who would want to venture into this field.
Some of these tips have boosted quite a lot of earnings in the past and is continuously doing so.

Here are some 5 proven ways on how best to improve your Adsense earnings:

  1. Concentrating on one format of Adsense ad. The one format that worked well for the majority is the Large Rectangle (336X280). This same format have the tendency to result in higher CTR, or the click-through rates. Why choose this format out of the many you can use? Basically because the ads will look like normal web links, and people, being used to clicking on them, click these types of links. They may or may not know they are clicking on your Adsense but as long as there are clicks, then it will all be for your advantage.
  2. Create a custom palette for your ads. Choose a color that will go well with the background of your site. If your site has a white background, try to use white as the color of your ad border and background. The idea to patterning the colors is to make the Adsense look like it is part of the web pages. Again, This will result to more clicks from people visiting your site.
  3. Remove the Adsense from the bottom pages of your site and put them at the top. Do not try to hide your Adsense. Put them in the place where people can see them quickly. You will be amazed how the difference between Adsense locations can make when you see your earnings.
  4. Maintain links to relevant websites. If you think some sites are better off than the others, put your ads there and try to maintaining and managing them. If there is already lots of Adsense put into that certain site, put yours on top of all of them. That way visitor will see your ads first upon browsing into that site.
  5. Try to automate the insertion of your Adsense code into the webpages using SSI (or server side included). Ask your web administrator if your server supports SSI or not. How do you do it? Just save your Adsense code in a text file, save it as "adsense text", and upload it to the root directory of the web server. Then using SSI, call the code on other pages. This tip is a time saver especially for those who are using automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.
These are some of the tips that have worked well for some who want to generate hundreds and even thousands on their websites.
It is important to know though that ads are displayed because it fits the interest of the people viewing them. So focusing on a specific topic should be your primary purpose because the displays will be especially targeted on a topic that persons will be viewing already.
Note also that there are many other Adsense sharing the same topic as you. It is best to think of making a good ad that will be somewhat different and unique than the ones already done. Every clickthrough that visitors make is a point for you so make every click count by making your Adsense something that people will definitely click on.
Tips given by those who have boosted their earnings are just guidelines they want to share with others. If they have somehow worked wonders to some, maybe it can work wonders for you too.

Try them out into your ads and see the result it will bring. If others have done it, there is nothing wrong trying it out for yourself.Interested readers are invited to click the links below for helpful ideas. The buzz about Adsense

Tuesday, February 26, 2008
Adsense is a popular type of advertising through the commonly used search engine, Google. This type of advertising allows website owners to earn money by advertising Google on their websites. The website will feature a link back to Google and the advertiser is paid based on the number of hits Google gets from that particular link. The advertisements can be text, images, or both. This is a very easy way for you to generate some extra revenue on your website without very much time or effort involved.

You don’t just have to advertise for Google though. With Adsense you can choose to have advertisements on your website for other websites and businesses. It is a good idea to choose those that are relevant to your own website but not a direct competitor. For example if you sell customized seat covers for vehicles you don’t want to advertise for other company’s that offer that same product. You may want to advertise for businesses that sell car cleaning products, stereo systems, windshields, and other vehicle related products that a consumer may be interested in. How do you make sure this happens?

Google works hard to filter out the types of advertisements it sends to your website. They understand all about competition. The Google Adsense software is very sophisticated. It will work hard to send you ads that are relevant to the type of business you operate. This gives you more chances of earning revenue from the ads because your target audience will be the ones seeing these ads on your website. The Google Adsense software looks at languages too. If your website offers materials in several languages then you will have the ads available in those languages as well. In fact, it is believed Google is able to determine more about your website and what consumers want than most website owners.

The amount of revenue you will generate with Adsense depends on how much each advertiser is willing to pay you for a per-click from your website. It also depends on the amount of advertising you do on your website. There is no cost to you for placing the ads on your website though so any revenue you generate will be profitable. Avoid placing too many ads on your website though or it can become distracting to the consumer. You still want them to focus on making a purchase from your website first. It is very simple too. All you are required to do is paste a couple of lines of coding from Google and place it into the html for your website.

Take a few moments and surf the internet. Chances are you will find several websites that have ads on them for other websites. This is set up to make them noticeable but not the primary focus of the actual website you are visiting. You are not responsible for the services or products of the companies you advertise for.

Google offers a great customer service support team to answer all of your questions about Adsense. There is also online help that gives you information on getting started, making the program work for your website, and troubleshooting. You can access the testing area to see how ads are going to look on your website. Does Adsense sound good to you? If you would like to sign up, go to www.Adwords.com.

Google Adsense is a great way to use your website as advertising space for Google and other businesses. There is no cost to you and you will earn money every time a user takes a link from your website to the one the ad is for. It is very simple to use and can earn you a considerable amount of money if your website has a high volume of traffic. The online help and customer service of Google Adsense will give you all the information you need to know as well as help you with any questions or concerns along the way.

Does Owning More Blogs Mean More Adsense Profits?

Thursday, February 14, 2008
Do blog site owners who own more blogs make more Adsense profits?

This is an interesting question to ask because there are well known bloggers who make huge profits from one single major blog. However there are also other equally well-known blog site owners who make their Adsense money from dozens of different blogs. So where does that leave somebody who is just starting out?

The key thing to remember about a blog site is that a blog’s main function is being a web log or online diary. As the term "online diary" suggests, this is where a blogger can generate a lot of interesting personal comment and intimate details and information about a particular niche subject or topic that they have chosen to cover. Blogs are quick and easy to set up. Blogs are a less expensive way of advertising your business

The fact is that a blog is hardly the place where you would want to reach for your credit card. Yet this does not make a blog less important. Blogs are classified as being increasingly important to any web based entrepreneur because it is where all the action is. In actual fact traffic is generated in large quantities at blogs and then re-directed to web sites for the actual sales transaction to be consummated.

On the other hand there is no denying the fact that putting your eggs in several baskets seems to work well with Adsense. Traffic volumes tend to fluctuate sometimes and if one site does not do well on a particular day then one of the dozen others will and in this way the blogger will be able to maintain their high daily sales and ultimately their big monthly check.

With the various online advertising and marketing tools available these days, it is not too difficult to run several blogs successfully and have each one attracting enough traffic for you to make significant revenue from Adsense. In fact you do not need a very big budget to be able to achieve this. You can for instance start with a small amount invested in PPC campaigns for each blog and then re-invest from the profit and returns you receive and in this way build up a huge targeted traffic for many of your blogs.

You can also combine this with free creative methods to attract traffic to each of your blogs.

This is not to say that anybody with just one blog is doomed to failure. Far from it, there are a number of advantages of having only one blog to focus and concentrate all you efforts on. More so if you are just starting out in online marketing. It is easier to try out things and be able to see the results of your efforts. Sometimes when you have too many blogs, monitoring their progress and the various programs and campaigns you are testing may prove to be quite challenging.

Ultimately it is up to you as an individual to decide what feels more comfortable for you – one Adsense blog or several.

Info on Ad Blocks

Thursday, February 14, 2008
Are you tired of the continuous stream of ads coming your way every time you search the internet for something? If so, then you may be interested in learning more about the various Ad Blocks that will prevent this from happening. Your computer will also run faster without all of those ads and you will have more privacy regarding where you go on the internet. Most Ad Blocks work by blocking out the host files. Others work by using a list of host names. You can choose to ad new names to the list and take others off. You would continue to get ads from hosts that are not on your blocked list.

There are many types of Ad Blocks to choose from. The one that is right for you depends on why you want to block them and if you want the option of letting some through from a particular host or not. The market is saturated with various spyware and pop up ad software that block these ads out. Make sure the product you use has automatic updates as things change and is compatible with the other software you operate on your computer.

SuperAdBlocker is considered to be the most reliable product out there. It is able to remove more than 100,000 adware and spyware components. This means regardless of the method the advertiser is using your software will likely prevent it from getting through to your computer. You will also be able to block banners in the area of instant messaging. This software comes with free updates as well as excellent customer support that is available 24/7 at no charge. SuperAdBlocker is available for only $29.95.

Mozilla is a type of Ad Blocker that allows you to make the choice of the advertisements you are exposed to as you go. It has a built in command called “block images from this server”. It is very simple to use. When you run across an ad you want blocked from your computer simply right click. Double click the “block images from this server” option ad the ad will disappear.

Those who advertise with AdSense aren’t happy about these various ad blockers as they feel they will make their effective marketing tool a waste of time. Those who advertise for Adsense are worried to because they don’t know how those blocked ads will make their website appear to the user. They can rest easy because all the user will see is a blank spot where the ad would have been.

Will Ad Blocks affect the vitality and economy of the internet? I guess it depends on who you ask. Some researchers believe Ad Blocks simply give the consumer some choice over what they are exposed to just like any other mode of advertising. We all have the right to turn the TV channel if we don’t like what is on just the same with the radio station. Other researchers believe that Ad Blocks will hurt the internet and cost consumers more in the long run. This is because the advertisers will have to find new methods of reaching the consumer but it will cost them more. That additional cost will be passed on to the consumers. However the world of advertising and consumers continues to evolve and there are always new ideas being introduced. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

You can choose from various types of programs and software to block such ads. Some will block all of the advertisements while others allow you to block them from particular hosts. Others allow you to click on particular ads and remove them from your computer. Ad Blocks give you a choice in how advertising online affects you and your computer.

Making Money With Your 1st Or 50th Website Using Google Adsense

Thursday, February 14, 2008
If you are just starting online with your first website, you have quite a learning curve in front of you. I know that your learning curve is still long, because I have been making money online for years, and I am still learning new stuff everyday.

Every year, more people are coming online. And every year, people struggle to figure out how to tap into the economic engine powered by the Internet. The one thing that newcomers to the Internet frequently fail to realize is that those of us, who are making the most money online, spent years learning our trades.

The good news is that Internet newcomers have one major advantage that my mentors and myself did not have when we started our online enterprises. The newcomers have people like us who are willing to teach others what they have learned.

First And Most Important Lesson To Learn

There are three kinds of commercial websites on the Internet: product/service merchants, advertising providers, and non-profit websites.

Now, the Red Cross and the United Way are non-profit websites by choice and mission. But, the majority of non-profit websites on the Internet were designed to be for-profit websites, but the website owner will have been lucky to have earned enough to pay their web hosting costs.

By the end of this article, I hope that I will have provided you enough information to be able to turn any non-profit website into a profit generating machine.

Merchants sell services. They also sell products made by others or themselves. Some merchants produce their own informational books and e-books, on a wide variety of topics.

Many people make the mistake of assuming that they do not know anything of value that other people would want to know. But, that just isn't true. Call me an optimist if you will, but I believe everyone knows something that other people would be willing to pay a certain amount of money to learn.

Ii is a fact that some of the smartest online entrepreneurs I know make a lot of money by writing and selling books and e-books, on topics ranging from cryptograms to how-to cure acid reflux, to finding the hero within, to how to be more successful with an online business.

I have bought many e-books and I have to say that some were better than others, but all of them helped me to learn what I needed to know in order to be successful with whatever endeavor I was undertaking.

Advertising Providers build websites with the intent of attracting a huge and loyal audience, so that advertisers will consider their website to be a good place to spend their advertising dollars.

In those dark days before Google Adsense and Yahoo's Publisher Network, we little guys were just tough out-of-luck if we wanted to sell our advertising space through a larger network of advertisers.

I remember having a website that was finally serving one thousand unique page views per day, or 30,000 page views per month. I remember thinking that it was time for me to see whom I could sell advertising space. So, I started doing my research.

I looked at one advertising network, and then another, and another. Without fail, most advertising networks required one million page views per month in order for a website to participate in their network. I was just poop out of luck.

So, I started advertising space on my site to my visitors. I sold some advertising, but I did not make a living doing it. The main issue here is that the people on my site are looking to learn about travel and other things, and advertisers generally spend their time on sites learning about doing business online.

Then in 2003, it all changed with the rollout of Google Adsense. Suddenly, all I needed to do was to apply to participate in Google's program. On approval, I could add one little piece of javascript code to my website, and I could start earning money from Google immediately, by making their client's advertising available on my own website.

Finally, my information website had a method for earning money that did not require for me to spend all of my waking hours chasing one sale after another.

Some Background

When I started my first online business, I had set up an Yahoo store. I did very well with it, but after a couple years, I realized that I did not want to keep doing the same thing for the rest of my life.

Three rooms of my home were committed to storing merchandise that I was buying for resale. When I made a product purchase, I had to take photos and then sit down to my computer, upload the image and make an appropriate product description. Then I had to spend all of my spare time, making new listings at Yahoo and running to the post office to ship the merchandise I had sold.

One day I realized that the reason I had started my business is to provide my family a better standard of living. I had accomplished that goal, at the cost of time with my family. I was literally working from the moment I got out of bed, until I collapsed into my bed at the end of the day.

After parting ways with Yahoo, I researched other profit models and settled on a membership site. In order to be successful with a membership website, one must be willing and able to add new good quality content to the website at least three or four times per week. That is a job in itself.

While my membership site did well monetarily, I found myself in a position similar to when I had my Yahoo store. I was spending all of my spare time with my business and not my family.

Finally, I Wrapped My Head Around The Solution

What I needed for myself was a website where I could sell other people's products and services, then let the other person handle the entire process of collecting the money and delivering the product or service. I needed to build my business in such a way that I could build my website, when I wanted to invest the time, and I could collect my checks at the end of the month.

The advertising website is the best kind of site to have when your goals are the same as mine.

So, I embarked on building a website that had information on a wide variety of topics.

Three years after I started my current website, Google launched their Adsense program. I applied to Google's Adsense program and was accepted within just a few days. I then applied my Google Adsense code to my website.

Over the years, I have been building links to my website so that people could find me. The articles and directory links have produced good traffic results for me on a consistent basis, since I started the process of building them.

The Next Lesson Can Literally Double And Triple Your Income

When you undertake to design a website that will host advertising, don't be shy about it!

• Don't stick your advertising in a corner somewhere; • Don't design your advertising to look like something other than an advertisement; • Don't be afraid to test your advertising placement; • Don't be afraid to tell people that they can buy advertising on your website; • Don't be afraid to charge good money to advertisers to have a placement on your website.

Don't be afraid and don't be shy. Your reason for putting advertising on your website is to give YOU a way to make money from your work. But, in order to keep your advertisers happy, you need to make sure that they get a good return for their investment.

When you can help your advertisers make money, then you will by extension earn money from your website. It is a beautiful concept; when I help put money in my advertiser's pockets, they put money in my pocket.

Specific Tips To Maximize Your Advertising Click-Through Rates (CTRs)

The default link color on the Internet is blue; so make the links in your advertising blue.

The default text color on the Internet is black; so make the text in your advertisement black or whatever color is the default text color on your website.

Make your advertisement block stand out from the rest of the content on the page. Putting your ads directly in your visitor's face is good. Within a text block, I have found the 300x250 to be the most effective ad block size. To see an example of the 300x250 text block in action, view my blog here: http://www.clintondouglasiv.com

Other ad block sizes that we have seen good results include: the 728x90 leaderboard, 468x60 banner, and the160x600 wide skyscraper.

Be The Next Advertising Success Story

I advised a friend of mine to make these kinds of changes on his own website. He already had great traffic, but he was not making as much money as I thought he should be making.

On my suggestion, he changed his Google ads from the bottom of his left sidebar to the main part of his pages. He told me that his CTR increased from 0.8% to 2.4%. I told him to change his ads from the 468x15 link unit to the 468x60 banner ad. He told me that his CTR increased from 2.4% to 4.7%. Then I told him to change his links from black to blue. Within just a few weeks, he reported back to me that his click-through rates jumped again, this time from 4.7% to 7.8%. He even reported that on some individual days, his new layout generated as high as 11.4% CTRs.

On my friend's website, his CTR jumped from 0.8% where it had been for a couple years, since he started using Google Adsense, to 7.8% on average. While most webmasters will see an average increase of two- to three-times, my friend has experienced a nearly tenfold (+9.75%) increase in his advertising revenue through that website.

What could you do with ten times more advertising revenue from your website? You will never know until you implement these kinds of changes on your website to increase your own advertising revenue.

7 Steps Of Mega Adsense Earners

Thursday, February 14, 2008
The Google AdSense program is like finding money in the street.

Kids in High School are making thousands of dollars a month with Adsense... Housewives, Retiree's, Mom and Pop's who've never made a dime on the Internet have created full time incomes by simply placing AdSense Ads on their web site or blog.

Then you have the "Super AdSense" earners. We have all heard of them... the Elite few who are on track to make half a million dollars a year or more promoting AdSense sites.

Do not be mistaken though... these people are not building like your Mom and Pop's do. They have systems in place that create sites for them... people who build sites for them... they have outsourced and automated many of the tedious tasks such as posting to blogs and searching for keywords.

While most people cannot emulate everything these Super AdSense earners do... many of them you can.

Here are 7 Required Steps you can implement today to copy their success.

1) Starting today... treat your AdSense business like it is a REAL business and track what you do.

Begin tracking what you are doing that works... as well as what you are doing that does not work. This will keep you from making the same mistakes over and over, and you can repeat the steps that have worked in the past. As simple as this step seems... most people do not know the reason(s) to their success or failure.

2) Utilize the latest tools and software available.

The Super AdSense earners are not any smarter than your average person. I know many people think they are... but for the most part, they are regular non techie people.

They are smarter in one respect though... they use the latest tools available to them to automate most of the tasks involved with researching and creating sites. They use the latest keyword, site creation and search engine optimization tools available. The tools they use are their secret weapons.

3) Quit chasing the Mega Dollar keywords.

You cannot compete with the search engine experts who create sites for the $80 payout keywords. You may get lucky every now and then... but in the long run, you are better off building sites for the low to mid range payout keywords. The competition is less, and your chance of success is much higher over the long term.

4) Choose broad niches and break it down.

Choose a broad subject as your main theme (lets use computers for an example). From there... break it down into as many sub niches as possible.

Using Computers as the example... you could build sub niches/sites like laptop computers, computer hard drives, computer keyboards, etc, etc. You could literally build hundreds of sites around one major theme and stay totally focused. Once you have exhausted every possible sub niche of that major theme... choose another main theme and repeat the process.

5) KISS

Keep your sites easy to navigate and forget the fancy graphics that distract your visitors attention. Unless you are just building AdSense sites for the fun of it and to impress your friends... the purpose of having the site is to have people click on one of the ads, right? Then keep the site layout simple... dump the scrolling banners, dancing chickens and colored scroll bars... they are distractions.

6) What is the purpose of your web site?

Your web site cannot be everything to everybody. If you have a full fledged ecommerce site, with products for sale... links to other products, it is not a good site for AdSense. If the primary focus of the site is to sell products... let it do that.

Do not distract or confuse your visitor with to many options or choices. The best AdSense sites are AdSense only content sites that sell nothing. They are sites that "Tell"... not "Sell."

7) Be consistent.

This is not one of those deals where you build one site and you are done. Refer back to Step #4. You must continuously build in order to be successful.

Think of it as planting a crop that you will harvest in a month or two, and the sites you build are seeds. Once the seeds have grown and matured... you will reap the harvest. The more seeds you plant... the larger the harvest.

To sum it up... utilize the tools available to automate as much of the process of building sites - doing research and building keyword lists as you can. This alone will help keep you organized and on track. Be consistent in building... treat it like the business it is and you will reap the rewards of your harvest.

$1 Million in Google AdSense Earnings

Thursday, February 14, 2008
They are calling him the million dollar man. Jason Calacanis recently revealed in his blog that he is on track to earn a million dollars from AdSense over the year ahead.

And if that number doesn’t wake you up and have you sitting on the edge of your seat, consider for a moment that he reached this level in less than a year. His company only started using AdSense in September 2004.

Calacanis runs Weblogs Inc., a network dedicated to creating trade weblogs across niche industries. And he’s quickly proven that AdSense is a credible advertising partner.

As their network has grown, so has their AdSense revenue. In January 2005 they earned an average of $580 per day. In March it was $737. In May it was $1,585. One day in July, just before he made the blog entry referred to above, they earned $2,335. Remember that is just for one day. If they can take that daily average to $2,740 they’ll be earning a rate of $1 million for a year. And Calacanis predicts that reaching daily earnings of $3,000 or even $5,000 is quite achievable.

That’s quite an achievement. Keep in mind that Calacanis has 103 bloggers on the payroll and nine staffers. Even so, many webmasters would give an arm or a leg to have even a third of that.

Google’s AdSense has been revolutionary. It has become firmly established as the darling of the online advertising industry. Although rumors are heard of major competitors launching a similar service, AdSense’s premier position seems secure for now.

In essence, AdSense has made it possible for almost anyone with a web site or blog to earn some revenue from advertising, without having to employ sales people or spend precious time searching for advertisers.

AdSense works like this. Webmasters sign up for an account in just a few minutes. They receive a small snippet of code to include on their web pages. Google will then automatically serve advertisements that are relevant to the content on the webmaster's pages. When someone visits the webmaster's site and clicks on one of Google's AdSense advertisements, the webmaster earns a fee. Advertisers can pay anywhere from five cents to a hundred dollars per click, and the webmaster receives a percentage of that fee.

Many webmasters are content with earning five to ten dollars from AdSense to cover the cost of web hosting. But many, unsurprising, have higher ambitions. At a popular WebmasterWorld forum, participants share tips and encouragement on reaching a goal of $300 per day from AdSense. So it is no wonder that Calacanis created quite a buzz when he made his million dollar blog entry.

Google have proven once again that they excel at designing innovative Internet services. If you are in the web industry and have not yet used AdSense, then perhaps you should try it out. Or if you are already using it, perhaps Calacanis’ impressive results will encourage you to track the performance of your AdSense units more closely, fine tune their positions and formats, and take your earnings to a new level.

Calacanis’ million dollar blog entry can be viewed at: http://calacanis.weblogsinc.com/entry/1234000403051129/
